Here are some questions you may have about NEWBUILD
What do you mean by writing for live performance?
Simply- something that can be performed by you or another person. Something you made so that it can be shared with a live audience.
What are the writer’s gatherings?
There are two monthly meetings to inspire a short form piece of live theatre from each writer. NEWBUILD will encourage and give opportunities for a selection of short pieces to be showcased that month online- on the site, on substack, on socials and NEWBUILD’s YouTube account.
How can I access the writer’s gatherings?
You can come to the in person writer’s gatherings in Manchester, you can join the online zoom writer’s gatherings or you can email NEWBUILD if to discuss another way.
Will the writer’s gatherings take place in other cities/towns?
Yes, if there is demand and an accessible space, there can be other writer’s gatherings set up in other cities or towns.
BSL is my first language will I have an interpreter?
Yes, that will be arranged for in-person and online. Please give us enough time to make that arrangement.
Will monthly online writer’s gatherings and in-person writer’s gatherings contain the same content?
No, the content will be different for each, allowing people to do either or both.
Is it a course?
No it isn’t a course it is a drop in writing session. In this way, you can come to each session and experience a new prompt.
What will be the writer’s gathering content?
The writer’s gatherings will be 2 hours long. The first half hour will be meeting and talking and introducing the prompt. The second half hour will be working through the writing prompt. Then we will have a break for 15 mins. The last 45 mins you will be invited to share and talk about how we can get the story shown in the coming month. Or enjoy others sharing their work and be inspired to help others with your skill set.
